GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

Step One

Upon request, the Director of Clinical Programs ("Director") will review any decision not to accept a case by the Protection and Advocacy Program. The Director shall accept any written submissions by the prospective client and may choose to meet with Director of the PAIMI program. The review shall occur within two weeks of the initial decision. However, when the prospective client informs the Law Center that time is of the essence, the Director will attempt to review the decision within five days. The Director shall inform the prospective client in writing of the decision and the reason for the decision.

Step Two

If a prospective client is unhappy with the decision of the Director, the individual may appeal to the Dean of the Law Center or a designee within the Law Center administration. This second review shall occur within two weeks of the decision by the Director. However, when the prospective client has informed the Law Center that time is of the essence, the Dean or his designee will attempt to review the decision within five days. The Dean or his designee shall inform the prospective client of his decision in writing and the reason for the decision.

Step Three

The prospective client may appeal to the Commission on Quality of Care Advocacy Services Director who shall render a decision as expeditiously as possible.
