Decorating With Bunk Beds
It is a completely different type of decorating that accompanies bunk beds. You have 2 beds that need to match up to the rest of the decor of the room instead of one. The way that you handle the beds will either turn your room into a busy eyesore or transform it into a stunning room that blends together in perfection.
Most bedrooms have one bed that often acts as the focal point of the room. This means that the comforter can be busy with patterns or simple with a plain color. Anything goes when you begin with one bed as a starting point.
When you are working with a set of twin over twin bunk beds the decorating needs to flow a different way. It is harder to pull together two beds as the focal point and easier to use another item in the room as the central focus.
One thing that works quite nicely when you are decorating a room with bunks is to use an area rug put in front of the beds. This can act as the point of focus and then the beds can be decorated around it.
If you want comforters with a busy pattern for the bunks you would start by purchasing a plain-colored rug that will accentuate one of the colors in the pattern. Then you can further decorate the bed with pillows in solid colors that either match the color of the rug or combine into the colors in the patterned comforter. This way, the bunk beds won’t look too busy, even with a multicolored pattern on the bedspreads.
If you are looking at a solid colored comforter for the beds you can get an area rug that is either solid in color as well or one with a pattern. Both can work equally well, depending on the final look you want to achieve.
Themed bunk beds for kids can be approached differently. These beds act as a focal point by themselves. You can decorate with wild and wacky designs all you want with these types of themed beds. For example, a princess bed that looks like a castle, with a slide on it, can have any type of comforter or bedspread adorning both the top and the bottom bunk. Likewise, a set of bunks that have been made to look like a warrior’s fort can be adorned with a solid or a patterned spread.
